There’s a reason Café Amisha has such a loyal following in Bermondsey and why every time we post about them on Instagram, the comments section fills with love. This is one of those rare neighbourhood restaurants that manages to feel familiar, comforting and genuinely special all at once.

Tucked away on Grange Road, just moments from the energy of Bermondsey Street, Café Amisha has been run since day one by Leonardo and Francesco, who built the restaurant around a simple idea: good food, made fresh, served with warmth.

And they really mean fresh.
Fish and meat are sourced daily from London markets, bread and cakes are baked in-house, and every dish is cooked to order. Nothing pre-made, nothing rushed — just classic, honest Italian cooking that tastes like someone’s nonna is in the kitchen. Their style is unfussy, wholesome and properly delicious.

We’ve been going for years, and it’s the kind of place where you always end up ordering “just one more plate” because everything smells too good to pass up. The team is friendly in the way only independent family-run places can be, and the atmosphere is relaxed, cosy and always buzzing with locals who know they’ve found a good thing.

In the summer, the outdoor terrace is one of our favourite spots for an early evening drink or a long, slow dinner. And if you’ve never wandered into their little Italian grocery section — you’re missing out. Shelves lined with pastas, biscuits, sauces, oils, and proper Italian condiments.
They also create beautiful seasonal Italian hampers, put together by Paola, which we featured in our Christmas Giveaway — and they were incredibly popular.

We even watched the Euros Italian match in here once, surrounded by regulars and staff — the energy was unmatched. It’s that kind of place: a restaurant, a local hangout, and a piece of the community.

Whether you’re craving handmade pasta, fresh seafood, a proper tiramisu, or just an authentic Italian meal that feels like a hug, Café Amisha is one of Bermondsey’s true gems. You’ll go once, and then you’ll keep going for years.
