One space. One night. Six artists. Unlimited layers.
On Thursday 2nd October, a reclaimed warehouse at 47 Tanner Street opens its doors for a one-night-only exhibition like no other. LAYERS, curated by Nicky Della Mote, invites you into a raw, immersive world where paint, sculpture, sound and space collide and everything is built in layers.
Inside the reclaimed industrial space, you’ll find work from six emerging artists:
Rob Smales
Kat Vandal
Olympia Alsawi
Amy McMillan
Lily Rigby
Nadia Z Andres
Each brings their own approach to layering of texture, colour, history and meaning, across oil on canvas, mixed media, and sculptural form. But it’s not just the art that’s layered.
The building itself, once industrial and overlooked, has been reclaimed as a creative sanctuary holding memories of the past while opening a space for expression, community, and transformation.
“LAYERS isn’t just a curatorial theme, it’s a way of looking at the world,” says curator Nicky Della Mote. “The space holds layers of memory. The work holds layers of process. The people bring their own layers too. It’s all of those colliding for one night only.”
What to expect on the night:
- 🎧 Live DJ sets
- 🍸 Curated cocktails
- 🍴 Menu by B Street Deli & Poulet
- 🎤 Artist interviews throughout the evening
- 🖼️ The chance to discover and purchase new work before anyone else
It’s all part of the atmosphere: layered, alive, and open to everyone.
This marks Della Mote’s first group show, after a run of five sold-out solo exhibitions since 2023. Known for platforming emerging and underrepresented voices, she’s built a reputation for bringing new collectors, creatives and curious first-timers into the art world, with real success stories for the artists she champions.
This night promises to be one of connection, discovery, and community-driven art in one of SE1’s most iconic spaces.
